Dunakiliti

The history of Dunakiliti dates back to the Árpád-Age (1000-1301). Lying in the north of Szigetköz and surrounded by several Danube branches it is a perfect place for water touring and fishing. The untouched nature around the village offers excellent walking possibilities. It is worth visiting the Neo-Gothic Catholic church with its colourful stained glass windows and the so called 'millennium oak-tree' planted in 1896 in front of. Other sights are the Batthyány-Castle, that is the birthplace of Blessed Dr. Batthyány-Strattmann László, also known as 'the doctor of the poor', the small votive chapel opposite to the castle, the newly built Pogány-Castle and the Danube barrage outside the village.
